The “Empire” star opens up about his mother’s fight against cancer
“I became so angry…at the idea of a pathogen or a condition that could possibly take away my mom.”
Terrence Howard, Oscar nominee and star of the hit television show “Empire,” recently sat down to share the emotional story of his mother’s fight against a colon cancer.
A self-described momma’s boy, Howard was blindsided when his mother called to say that she had been diagnosed with cancer, and through her tears, admitted that she was scared.
“My mom didn’t realize how much she needed us at the time. And we weren’t there, because we were so busy trying to do the mundane things of life.”
Howard’s revealing story is the latest in a series of intimate video profiles from PBS and Cancer: The Emperor of All Maladies about the impact of cancer on countless lives.
