On Cancer, Comedy and Triumph
“I was just lashing out at all the demons in my personal life. Because I’m a comedic actor it definitely came out more as Mr. Chow comedic rage, but deep down inside, I was really angry.”
Millions of moviegoers know actor Ken Jeong for his comedic portrayal of Leslie Chow in the Hangover film franchise. Today, in an exclusive video for PBS and Cancer: The Emperor of All Maladies, Jeong reveals how comedy helped him and his wife, Tran, through her battle against cancer.
“Tran and I definitely believe in a lighter perspective on life, and to see it through many different lenses is important,” says Jeong. “Just for her to come out of it [her battle with cancer] so healthy and so…not jaded – it’s inspiring to me.”
Ken and Tran’s story is the latest in a series of intimate video profiles from PBS and Cancer: The Emperor of All Maladies about the impact of cancer on countless lives.
